Abstract
570,295. Building-blocks. McLEAN, A. J. Sept. 1, 1943, No. 14280. [Class 20 (iv)] [Also in Group V] A wooden mould 1 is lined on one side and on the bottom with smooth cardboard 4 which may have a pattern applied thereto as by printing, or the mould itself may bear the pattern, and intersecting channel members 5 are secured to the mould wall by pins 6, the members following the pattern on the cardboard, which may resemble brickwork or brickwork and keystone. The spaces between the members 5 are then filled with plastic facing material 7, e.g. cement concrete containing brick-dust or chippings of brick or stone, of a colour corresponding to that of the brickwork 3 with which the archway is to be used. Wire reinforcement 8 is secured to the members 5 and the mould is filled with concrete 9. When the concrete has set, the sides and ends of the mould are removed, the pins 6 are cut off or bent over, and the members 5 are filled with cement pointing 10, the result being an arch member, Fig. 1, having two patterned surfaces which resemble brickwork. The channel members 5 may be of metal, asbestos, cement or wood, and may be apertured to key the facing material 7. Reinforcing rods 11 may be embedded in the concrete as it is cast
