Abstract

701,126. Floors; roofs. INTERNATIONELLA SIPOREX AKTIEBOLAGET. July 11, 1951 [Aug. 30, 1950], No. 16398/51. Class 20(4) In a floor or roof formed of elongated concrete slabs laid side-by-side with their ends resting on supports, mutual displacement of the beams as the result of earthquakes &c. is prevented by forming shallow transverse grooves in the upper surface of each slab so that when the slabs are in position, the grooves are aligned, reinforcing rods then being embedded in concrete in the grooves. As shown, each slab 1 is made of lightweight concrete reinforced longitudinally and formed with a rebate 3 along one of its upper longitudinal edges and with a number of shallow grooves 5 across its upper surface. The slabs are laid side-by-side with their ends resting on walls 2 and reinforcing rods 3a, 4a and 5a are placed in the longitudinal rebates 3, in spaces 4 left between the ends of adjoining slabs and in the aligned grooves 5 respectively. The rods, which may be lashed or welded together where they intersect, are then embedded in concrete which is filled into the grooves and rebates.
