Abstract
570,665. Reinforced concrete floors and roofs. JONES, E. June 3, 1943, No. 8942. [Class 20 (iv)] A reinforced concrete floor comprises beams 10 of inverted T-section whose flanges support concrete slabs 11 precast or cast in situ laid on cement 14. A concrete covering 13 is added. The beam may be surface uppermost and any desired surface finish, such as wood graining, given to it. This surface may be left exposed and the slabs 12 covered with plaster 15, or the slabs may be stepped-and both slab and beam covered with plaster 17. The beam is provided with longitudinal reinforcing rods 18, 19, 20, 21, and transverse reinforcement comprising rods 22 hooked over the rod 19, bent around the rod 18, and extended laterally into the flanges of the beam. In forming a roof, Fig. 3, beams 25 are cast in situ on the walls 26, and rafters 10 support slabs 31. The lower ends of beams 10 may rest in recesses in beams 25, or the latter may be cast around them. One flange of beam 10 is cut away at 29 to support the other rafter beam. A rod 30 extends through the webs of the beams, Concrete 32 is added to form the ridge.
