Abstract

614,641. Track brakes. MADSEN, P. July 17, 1946, No. 21421. Convention date, July 18, 1945. [Class 103 (i)] In an electromagnetic track brake having a shoe formed by the polepieces of a magnet which is resiliently mounted for vertical movement above the rail, the braking effort is transmitted to the vehicle through a member extending substantially longitudinally at each end of the shoe, the member being pivotally connected to a vertically arranged thrust rod rigidly secured to the vehicle so that the shoe can turn about its longitudinal axis to compensate for wear of the rail. As shown, the shoe 7 is suspended by springs 'connected to lugs 12 and is formed at each end with lugs 16 and 17 apertured to receive a pin 18 which passes through a link 19 embracing a vertical rod 20 secured to the vehicle.
