606,941. Brake transmitting mechanism. GOODRICH CO., B. F. Jan. 29, 1946, No. 2888. Convention date, Feb. 2, 1945. [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] A railway truck has the wheel axles mounted in torsion arms 75 ... 78 and the arrangement of the brake rigging is such that the adjustment of the brakes is not substantially altered by torsional twisting movement of the truck or by deflection of the torsion arms. Brake shoes 90, 91, Fig. 2, are suspended from links 92, 93 from the wheel arm 75, and a lever 94 pivoted at 95 to the arm 75 is fulcrummed on the brake beam 96 which connects the brake shoes at opposite wheels of the same axle and has its lower end pivotally connected at 97 to the lower end of a lever 99 pivoted on the opposite brake beam 100, by a link 101. A link 102 is pivoted to the upper end of lever 99 and to the lower end of a lever 105 pivoted at 106 to the arm 75, the upper end of the lever 105 being pivoted to a link 107 which is connected to one end of a lever 108 fulcrummed on the yoke 42. A similar arrangement is made for the opposite wheel which is connected to a lever 109 on the casing 42 but the brake gear on the other axle is connected to floating equalizing levers 112, 113, the levers 108, 109, 112, 113 being connected by pivoted links 114, 115. The centres of the equalizing levers 112, 113 are pivotally connected by links 116, 117 to the ends of an equalizing lever 118, the centre of which is pivotally connected by a rod 119 to an operating cylinder (not shown).
