Abstract

587,321. Railway vehicles. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV - UND MASCHINEN - FABRIK. Oct. 10, 1944, No. 19488. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1943. [Class 103 (vi)] Traction and braking efforts from a bogie 5 are transmitted to a vehicle body 1 without bending strain on a bolster 6 by subdividing the king pin into two parts 15, 20 so that one pin 20 transmits thrusts acting longitudinally and the other 15 transmits thrusts acting transversely. As shown, the body 1 has sides depending at 2 to which a cross member 3 is rigidly attached, the cross member passing under or through the bogie frame. The pin 20 is fixed to the bogie frame 5 and projects into a transverse guide 22 in the cross member 3 or it may be fixed to the cross member 3 and be guided transversely in the bogie frame, whilst the pin 15 is fixed to the cross member and projects into a longitudinal guide 17 in the bogie bolster 6. The bolster is prevented from moving longitudinally of the vehicle by links 12 hinged to brackets 14 and is suspended from the bogie frame by springs 8 and links 10, and supports the body on self aligning side bearing shoes 4.
