Abstract
471,083. Railway &c. vehicle bogies. SOC. D'INVENTIONS AERONAUTIQUES ET MECANIQUES S.I.A.M. Aug. 5, 1936, No. 21600. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1935. [Classes 103 (vi) and 108 (ii)] The body of a railway or other vehicle is resiliently supported upon a bogie by means of a single supporting member such as a rubber cushion, oleo-pneumatic spring, &c., which constitutes the sole means for preventing wheel displacements from being transmitted to the body. In the railway vehicle bogie construction shown in Figs. 3 and 7, the axles E are directly mounted in a frame of H-shape comprising a plain side frame 4 pivoted at 6 to a second frame member in which transverse limbs 5 are formed integrally with a side frame 3. Between the limbs 5 a channelled support or plank 11 is suspended by swing links 9, such plank supporting by means of a single central rubber block 13 a bolster 12 on which the vehicle body is pivoted at 14. Side sway of the bolster is resisted by means of longitudinal arms 20 connecting the bolster to a torsion rod 17. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes a modification in which anti-rolling springs are inserted between the plank 11 and bolster 12 on each side of the resilient support 13. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
