[Class 35] In order to provide uniform pull in the arm of a plunger type electromagnet having a frame 1 and a plunger 4, magnetic shunts 8 are so shaped and disposed that when connected to the frame 1 by bolts 9 they partially bridge the air-gap between the inner end surface of the plunger 1 and the side 5 of the frame 1 opposite to the said plunger surface. The plunger has non- magnetic guides, e.g. of beryllium bronze, or its outer laminµ may be non-magnetic. Specification 557,585 is referred to.
