596,103. Making dimension gauges. WHITAKER, C. R. July 19,1945, No. 18481. Drawings to Specification. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XIX] Plug and other linear dimension gauges are made of a metal core, of the dimension required in the finished gauge or of the required, dimension less an allowance for plating not greater than the permitted tolerance for wear, plated with chromium &c. in a controlled plating operation which is stopped before the plating- exceeds the permitted tolerance. The wear on the gauge can be indicated by applying a copper sulphate solution which affords a colour distinction when the core material is exposed. The leading edges of the gauge may be rounded.
