607,985. Gas meters. SOUTH METROPOLITAN GAS CO., and SMITH, C. H. Feb. 13, 1946, No. 4503. [Class 54] [Also in Group XVIII] A gas meter has two diaphragm compartments mounted beneath the valve chamber and extending from back to front of the meter, with a space between them for prepayment mechanism. The lower part of the meter has two diaphragms c, d, housed in the outer compartments formed by partitions a, b, the central compartment h housing the prepayment mechanism. The valve mechanism is housed in the upper part of the meter from which lead the vertical burn-off shaft g, the flag-rods l and external ducts m to the diaphragms. An inlet connection n and an outlet connection o are rigidly attached to the back of the meter.
