[Class 81(i)] [Also in Group XI] An apparatus for producing hot moist air for steam bathrooms comprises a fire box consisting of a bottom grate 1 and ash pit 2, two vertical compartments 3 and 4, one at each side of the fire box, adapted to receive heat accumulating bodies such as stones 3a and having upward extensions 5 and 6 respectively which have an opening to the room, channels 13 and 14 formed between the stove casing 15 and the outer walls of the compartments 3 and 4 and their extensions 5 and 6 whereby combustion gases may pass along the inside, top and outside walls of one compartment, along a channel 18 passing beneath both compartments and the ash pit 2 and then along the outside wall of the other compartment and out through a smoke outlet 16. A tiltable damper 7 arranged below the smoke outlet 16 and above the top of the extensions 5 and 6 is adapted to control and reverse the flow of the said gases. In operation, water is sprayed into the front opening of a compartment extension 5 or 6, vaporizes on the hot stones and passes into the room along with air drawn through an inlet 8. Preheated secondary air is introduced to the fuel bed through a channel 9 attached to the rear wall of the apparatus and through a tube 19 arranged in the channel 18 and provided with a regulating valve.
