Abstract

499,636. Heating water. ANDERSSEN, A. M. April 19, 1938, No. 11636. [Class 64 (i)] Water heaters for central heating plant have a combustion chamber 1 surrounded on all sides by a water container 2 and communicating at one side with passages bounded by closed walls of pipes 7 spaced from one another to provide a continuous flue the gases sweeping over the whole of the pipes transversely to their longitudinal direction. The pipes 7 which communicate with the water container directly or through collector boxes at one or both sides, are preferably slightly inclined and those in one wall staggered in relation to those of an adjacent wall. Flat iron projections 10 extend between individual pipes either in one piece or in two relatively slidable parts.
