Abstract
803,528. Closed solid-fuel stoves. THRING, M. W. Nov. 2, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 33923/55. Class 126 A slow-combustion domestic stove usable as an open fire and having hollow side walls for heating air comprises a hopper 12, Fig. 1, having a cover 19 with an air inlet 20, and a shakable grate 1 above an ashpit 4 having a controlled air inlet 5. The combustion gases pass between double doors 6 and the front wall 14 of the hopper, through lateral openings 21, into air spaces 22, Figs. 2, 4, formed between walls 23, 24 and discharge into chambers 25 formed between walls 24, 26. From the chambers 25 the gases pass through outlets 27 and a space 28 beneath the hopper base 16 to an outlet flue 29. Air from the room flows through openings 30 into the spaces 22 and reenters the room through openings in the top of the stove. The doors are held closed by a latch 32 operated by a lever 33 connected by a link 34 to a latch 35 for the hopper cover 19, so that the air inlet 20 in the cover is closed when the doors are opened. Secondary air is supplied to nozzles 36, Fig. 4, over the grate through open-ended pipes 37 in the spaces 22.
