[Class 106 (i)] [Also in Group XV] An oscillatory handle autographic register is characterised by a feed limiting device comprising a member arranged to stop movement of a driven member after a predetermined angular movement thereof corresponding to the feeding of a predetermined amount of stationery and a pawl movable by the handle and arranged to provide a one-way driving connection between the handle and the driven member and also as a preliminary to each feeding operation to disengage the stop member to release the driven member. Movement of the handle rotates a spindle 13 and a disc 14 first counterclockwise as seen in Fig. 3, and then, under spring action, back again. A driving pawl 27, pivoted to the disc 14, engages in one of four notches in a ring 19, first to eject a stop pawl 21 and then to drive the ring 19 which is secured to a gear driving the feed mechanism. At the end of a quarter revolution, the pawl 21 engages the next notch in the ring 19 to stop the feed, and the pawl 27 rides on the inside of the ring as the disc and handle return under spring action. Fig. 6 shows an inverted form with the stop pawl 55 on the inside of the ring and the driving pawl 57 on the outside. In Fig. 7, an arm loose on the spindle 63 carries a pawl 60 pivoted at 61. An arm 67 turns with the spindle, forcing the pawl 60 into a notch in counter-clockwise movement and withdrawing it in clockwise movement. The, handle 111, Fig. 8, carries the pawl 114 directly.
