823,410. Counting-apparatus; zeroizing- mechanism. SODECO SOC. DES COMPTEURS DE GENEVE. Aug. 3, 1956 [Aug. 9, 1955], No. 23966/56. Class 106 (1). In an arrangement for the remote indication of the increase during a predetermined period of the number registered by an electric impulse counter, each impulse is transmitted also to a remotely situated auxiliary reversible counter which registers zero at the beginning of the period and which at the end of the period is returned rapidly to zero by impulses from an impulse transmitter which simultaneously step on a remote counter. As shown, a consumption meter a, Fig. 1, emits impulses which are counted directly by a corresponding counter b and which also actuate a reversible counter c which is at zero at the beginning of a period, through its winding 1, thereby driving the numeral wheels 11-14, Fig. 2, in an additive direction through a differential gear 22. At the end of the predetermined period, an impulse transmitter d is started and the impulses emitted actuate the counter c reversely through its winding 1<SP>1</SP> and also step on a remote counter e. This action continues until the counter c reaches zero, when a switch 21 opens to interrupt the supply of impulses from the transmitter d. The switch 21 is actuated via arms 18, 20, the arm 18 carrying a spindle 17 on which rollers 16 are mounted contacting cam discs 11<SP>1</SP>-14<SP>1</SP> attached to the number wheels and recessed at points corresponding to the zero of the associated number wheels. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the time taken to drive the counter c back to zero is reduced by replacing it by a counter in which the numeral wheels may be returned individually to zero by impulses from a transmitter and in which interdenominational carry is by electric pulses. In all cases, the reversal to zero of the c occurs while the meter a is inoperative.
