Abstract

766,098. Counters for printing machines. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK KOENIG & BAUER AKT.-GES. March 22, 1955, No. 8382/55. Class 100(2) A counter for a multi-colour printing machine having several printing units is controlled in such a manner that it is dependent upon the operation of all the printing units and discontinues counting as soon as any one of the printing units becomes inoperative. This arrangement prevents sheets being counted which are incompletely printed. Each printing unit is provided with an electric switch adapted to close when the unit is started and to open when it becomes inoperative. The switches are connected in series between an impulse generator and an electric pulse counter. When all the switches are closed a pulse is recorded on the counter for each printing operation of the machine. The switches may be individually short-circuited by manually operable switches so that when certain units are not in use, the impulses may still be transmitted to the counter through the switches of the remaining printing units. Instead of using an electric pulse counter, a mechanical counter may be used actuated by a solenoid energized by the pulses.
