Each numeral wheel 80 mounted freely on a shaft 20 with a conventional gear wheel has a pin-and-slot connection 90, 91 to a further gear-wheel 82 mounted on an eccentric 92 fixed to the shaft 20. At transfer the gearwheel 82, as shown more clearly in Fig. 9, because of its eccentric mounting, makes a bigger angular movement than the associated numeral wheel. For resetting the shaft 20 and eccentric 92 are rotated through 160 degrees, Fig. 5, so withdrawing the gear-wheel 82 from engagement with the related mutilated transfer pinion 85. Towards the end of this movement a cam (65), (Fig. 3), rocks a shaft 42 to press a yoke 54 against heart cam 60 in known manner. A projection 96 on the hub of gearwheel 82 is arranged to catch on a sprung pawl (Fig. 6) if the yoke 54 were to hit the dead-centre of cam 60, whereby the cam is pulled to one side. A full-stroke device (48, 50), (Fig. 3), ensures that resetting and restoring to counting condition are properly completed. The resetting operation also involves disconnection of a drive clutch (30, 32), (Figs. 1, 2), by a profiled collar (24). Modifications are described.
