Abstract

859,107. Fishing reels. URFABRIKEN A. B. Oct. 20, 1959 [Oct. 24,1958], No. 35562/59. Class 48 In a reel in which a spooling member 13 is rotated by a crank-operated tubular drive shaft 36 to wind the line 16 on to a spool 3 and is displaceable axially to a line-arresting forward position by means of a push rod 30, 31 displaceable by a pivoted thumb piece 20 against the action of a return spring 22, the latter is disposed within the tubular drive shaft 36 and bears on an abutment 39 therein. The push rod 30, 31 comprises two push rods in end to end abutment and the spring 22 acts between the abutment 39 and the head of a screw 40 screwed into the end of the push rod 30. The spooling member 13 is secured to a hub 23 screwed on to the inner end of the push rod 30; and on the hub 23 a disc shaped resilient member 18 is freely mounted, the core of the disc 18 or the hub 23 having an arcuate or spherical surface to allow rocking of the disc 18. A bowed washer 25 maintains the disc 18 in contact with an abutment 26 on the hub 23. In operation when the thumb piece 20 is depressed the disc 18 moves forward to clamp the line 16 between its forward conical face and a conical face 14a of the reel cover 14. The drive from the tubular shaft 36 to the hub 23 is transmitted by a cross pin 43 in the push rod 30 slidably engaging in slots 44 in the end of the tubular shaft 36. The other end of the tubular shaft is secured by a cross pin 35 to a hub 34 on a gear wheel 12 meshing with a gear wheel 11 driven by a crank 11a. The other push rod 31 extends through the hub 34 of the gear wheel-12 and has an open slot 37 for the cross pin 35. The spool 3 is slidably mounted on a sleeve 4 screwed into the front walls of the gear casing 1 and is connected by a bayonet fastening to a plate 6 secured to rods 7 guided in openings in the front wall 5 and secured to a yoke 8. An eccentric pin 10 on the gear 11 engages a transverse groove 9 in one face of the yoke 8 so that on rotation of the gear to wind in the line the yoke and hence the spool are reciprocated: The line 16 passes through a central opening 15 in the cover 14 and is picked up by a pin 17 on a carrier 17a slidable radially on the end wall of the spooling member 13 and biased inwardly by a spring (not shown). Mechanism of known construction keeps the pin 17 in projected position when the line is to be wound on the spool 3.
