939,811. Ratchet gearing. W. LEPPER, [trading as TRANSFORMATORENWERK AUGUST LEPPER]. Aug. 31, 1960 [Sept. 12, 1959], No. 30068/60. Class 80 (3). An arrangement for driving a programme timing mechanism in an automatic washing machine comprises a gear-wheel 4, driven by a motor 7 through gearing 5, 6 and attached to a sleeve 3 on which is mounted an eccentric 12, a T-shaped indexing member 13 which is mounted in slots in guide plates 16 and 17 and which is reciprocated by the rotating eccentric, and an indexing tongue 15, attached to the member 13, which drives a ratchet wheel 2 one step at a time, the shaft of the wheel 2 being coaxial with the gear-wheel 4. A pawl 18 prevents backrunning of the ratchet wheel.
