[Class 74(ii)] Two oppositely directed wrap horns, 8, 9, for facilitating the introduction of a wrap yarn to selected elevated needles, are positioned at the auxiliary side of a circular machine adjacent the backs of the independently operable needles and are adapted to move, one to an inoperative and the other to an operative position during each movement of reciprocatory knitting to permit wrap yarns to be knitted in both directions of knitting. As described the wrap horns 8, 9, are provided at their ends with rollers 10 slidable in guides 11 on brackets 12 mounted on a segment 13, which is adapted to partly rotate on a guide ring 14 attached to the carrier plate 3. Rotation of the segment 13 is controlled through a finger 21 by a ring 15, frictionally driven by the sinker head 16, the movement of the sinker head with the needle cylinder in either direction imparting a corresponding movement to the wrap horns. The movement of the wrap horns is limited by a stop member 19 on the ring 15 engaging a stationary member 20. A pin 26 extending from the rollers 10 on the ends of the wrap horns engages a slot 24, 25, in a plate 23 mounted on carrier plate 3 so that as the horns are rotated they are raised and lowered to an inoperative and operative position, one wrap horn being raised and one lowered in each direction of movement.
