645,460. Knitting-machines. HEMPHILL CO. June 1, 1948, No. 14822. Convention date, June 10, 1947. [Class 74 (ii)] A narrowing or widening picker of a circular machine is provided with a stop 10, which may be adjusted, to ensure that only the desired number of needles are engaged by the picker and raised or lowered at each course of narrowing or widening. An additional stop 12, to engage the long butt needles and exclude them from the picker, may be provided to ensure that only short butt needles are raised or lowered. Alternatively, the picker may be provided with a stop 7 only, for excluding the long butt needles.
