Abstract

604,373. Instantaneous steam generators. SOC. CIVILE D'ETUDES THERMOMECANIQUES. June 18, 1945, No. 18465. Convention date, Sept. 15, 1942. [Class 123(ii)] [Also in Group XII] A water tube boiler comprises a pressure resistant casing 1 enclosing a combustion chamber containing steam generating tubes 16, fuel and combustion air under pressure being supplied to the chamber, the pressure of the combustion gases, and of the steam in the tubes 16, being maintained substantially equal i.e. not more than 1 Kg per square centimetre difference. The combustion air enters by a part 4 at a pressure of at least 10 Kgs per square centimetre, and fuel by a tube 7, the combustion products leaving by a port 5, the water entering by a tube 12, passing through economiser tubes 14, boiler tubes 25, acting as a screen for the casing 1, and into the tubes 16, steam being drawn off through passage 26. A spring-biassed piston 29 with attached link 31 serves to maintain equal pressures outside and inside the tubes 16, the upper face of the piston being acted on by steam pressure, the-lower by the combustion products. The link 31 is attached to a mechanism (not shown) which regulates with the supply of fuel and the pressure of the combusion air. The tubes 16 are arranged along concentric cylinders and are connected so that water flows from the periphery to the centre of the chamber, the tops of tubes in each cylindrical arrangement being connected by junction boxes 17.
