Abstract
455,177. Direct-contact steam boilers. BECHU, X., Villa Poulotte, Faremoutiers, Seine et Marne, France. Nov. 28, 1935, No. 33053. Convention date, Feb. 12. [Class 123 (ii)] [See also Group XII] A generator for producing mixed steam or other vapour and combustion products comprises a body 1 with an inlet 2 for compressed air and a Venturi constriction 9 into the central region of which a water &c. conduit 10 projects. A fuel conduit 4 projects similarly into a constriction 3 and the stream of combustion products on reaching the constriction 9 atomizes the water leaving tube 10 effecting instantaneous vaporization. The mixed products pass to an engine through a chamber 15 differences in the pressure in which affect the supply of air for combustion. The fuel and water supplies may be controlled by cocks 8, 12, by the suction of the gases through the constrictions or by thermostats or other devices. Specification 254,966, [Class 123 (ii)], is referred to.
