Abstract
598,692. Fertilizer distributers. MASSEY-HARRIS, Ltd., RESEARCH ENGINEERS, Ltd., and DAIN, G. R. Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3789. [Class 6 (i)] In a machine for distributing artificial fertilizer and the like comprising a hopper containing material which is delivered through shutter controlled openings to a series of dishlike discharge pans rotatably mounted about vertical axes, the material being evenly spread by means of a series of spreaders or flickers which rotate about a common horizontal axis and are driven from the land wheels by gearing, the hopper is mounted so as to be capable of removal or of being lifted clear of the discharge pans to permit of access thereto. As shown, the hopper 1 is secured to the machine frame 2 by levers 3 each pivoted on a bolt 4 and provided with a spring 5 to maintain the lever in position. One side of the lever may be chamfered to provide a cam effect to facilitate operation. The Provisional Specification refers to the use of wedges for securing the hopper in place. Specification 598,695 is referred to.
