Abstract
779,130. Fertilizer distributers. MASSEYHARRIS-FERGUSON (MANUFACTURING), Ltd. Oct. 26, 1955 [May 24, 1954], No. 15164/54. Class 6(1). A machine for distributing artificial fertilizers of the type comprising a frame supporting a transverse hopper 10 from which fertilizer is distributed by mechanism including revolving distributing pans 14 supported below the hopper is characterized in that the hopper is arranged to pivot about the frame so that it may be raised clear of the pans. As shown, hinges 53 are provided and the hopper is raised by means of a handle 51 and is locked in the working position by means of brackets 60 which engage and are locked by handled clamp nuts 57. The handle 51 is used to keep the hopper level when working in sloping ground, a draft frame 46 being pivoted at 45 to the machine frame, the relative positions of the machine frame and draft frame being adjusted by the handle 51. When raising the hopper the draft frame 46 is locked to the machine frame by means of a pin 55. The frame includes a transverse tube 20 and the pans 14 are mounted on supports which form the subject matter of Specification 779,131. The machine is connected to a tractor by a drawbar. In a modification the machine may be mounted on the power lift device of a tractor, the pans being driven from the wheels or the power shaft of the tractor. In this case the frame is mounted in the lower hitch links of the power lift device and the hopper is connected to the upper hitch link which is telescopic.
