Abstract

779,131. Fertilizer distributers. MASSEYHARRIS-FERGUSON (MANUFACTURING), Ltd. Aug. 19, 1955 [May 24, 1954], No. 15166/54. Class 6(1). A fertilizer distributing machine comprising a series of revolving distributer pans 14 supported below a hopper 13 on a frame, is characterized in that supports for the revolving distributer pans are mounted in a cross-bar of the frame and each support comprises a head 20 mounted in the upper part of the cross-bar, a vertical journal pin 25 mounted in each support the support having a cylindrical body portion 19 extending through the cross-bar and secured to the under-side of the cross-bar by means of a bolt 27. The pans 14 are provided with intermeshing gear teeth 29 and are driven from a landwheel 11 of the machine through a reduction gear box 32, shaft 33, bevel gearing 34, 35, a short shaft arranged at right angles to the shaft 33 and a bevel gear meshing with a gear ring 31 provided on one of the pans. The machine is towed by a tractor but may be mounted on the power lift device of a tractor, the pans being driven from the tractor wheels or the tractor power shaft through suitable gearing.
