Abstract
598,694. Fertilizer distributers. MASSEY-HARRIS, Ltd., RESEARCH ENGINEERS, Ltd., and MATTHEWS, W. R. Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3791. [Class 6 (i)] Relates to a machine for distributing artificial fertilizer and the like comprising a trough-like hopper containing material which is delivered through shutter-controlled openings to a series of dish-like discharge pans 1 rotatably mounted about vertical axes, the material being evenly spread by means of a series of spreaders or flickers which rotate about a common horizontal axis and dip into the pans, the pans and flickers being driven from the land wheels through gearing. According to the invention, all the pans 1 are formed underneath with radiallyarranged teeth 2, the driving worms 3 being offset from lines 6 radiating from the pan centre and lying at right angles to the common axis of the worms. The worms 3 are mounted on a common transverse shaft 4, half the number of worms being formed with right-hand threads and half with left-hand threads, one half being offset on the opposite side of the pans to the others.
