Abstract

595,868. Magnetrons. ROLLIN, B. V., and WRIGHT, C. S. May 24, 1944, No. 10110. [Class 39 (i)] A multi-resonator magnetron comprising an anode member having an axially extending space therein and a plurality of electromagnetically coupled resonator cavities 2 ... 13, Fig. 3, disposed about and opening into said space, has its stability of oscillation and its output improved by making the resonant frequency of at least one cavity different from that of its immediate neighbours and that of at least two alternate cavities the same. This is done by introducing into one or more of the cavity spaces a member of insulating material such as a rod 17 of silica, or a rod of conducting material such as copper not electrically connected to the anode.
