Abstract
888,815. Magnetron oscillators. LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc. Sept. 2, 1959 [April 15, 1959], No. 29899/59. Class 39(1) [Also in Groups XI and XL(c)] In a magnetron with an axial cathode and a concentric anode comprising at least one cavity resonator, an aperture which is eccentrically placed with respect to the cathode is provided in one end of the anode and forms a passage for the extraction of the microwave energy. In the magnetron shown with an interdigital type anode structure 35, the energy is radiated through the window 30. A radiating conductor 60 extends through the passage 58 to the interior of the anode cavity resonator and may be supported by a spacer 64. The anode structure comprises two cup shaped members 54, 56 and these members together with the spacers 46, 48 and the pole-pieces 42, 44 form a sandwich construction nesting within the housing 26. The application of the magnetron is to microwave heating apparatus, one or more such magnetrons being mounted flush in the walls of an oven (see Group XI).
