Abstract
596,568. Electron discharge apparatus; magnetrons. RAYTHEON MANUFACTURING CO. April 28, 1944, No. 8060. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] An electron discharge device such as a magnetron, Fig. 1, comprises a cylindrical anode 4 integral with the container 1 and provided with radial grooves, -not shown, to form cavity resonators and also provided with a circumferential groove 19 into which a conducting ring 20 may be inserted to adjust the frequency. As shown, the ring is supported by a rod 21 mounted in a tube 22, adjustment being effected by bending the tube. The tube 22 may contain a getter 24. The cathode 6 is mounted axially between leads 7, 8. Energy is withdrawn by coaxial line, the inner member of which is connected to one anode sector by a lead 16 passing through a glass seal, the outer member being sealed to the periphery of the anode. In a modification, Fig. 3, the ring 20<1> carries plugs 26 which enter enlarged cavities 25 in the radial anode grooves 13 for tuning.
