Abstract

594,582. Induction machines. SORLEY. A. Sept. 14, 1944, No. 17611. [Class 35] In an A.C. single or polyphase induction motor, having a substantially constant torque at all speeds, the non-magnetic rotor conductors have no end rings and the torque is derived from eddy currents within the conductors themselves. The conductors c which may be triangular or elliptical, solid or hollow, may also be composed of an inner tube of nickel copper alloy within an outer tube of aluminium. The conductors which may or may not be insulated, are fixed in transversely staggered slots and pairs of conductors may take the form of a hair-pin loop of a slot-pitch of any magnitude. A fan disc e is mounted on an anti-friction bearing f and may have conductors g similar to those in the main motor so that it is driven round by a part of the main stator flux. Specification 298,567, [Class 35], is referred to.
