Abstract
584,094. Alternating current motors. NEWMAN INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and KACSER, F. Dec. 8, 1944, No. 24555. [Class 35] In a shaded pole motor, the shading ring is cast in position, thus fixing the pole laminations, and may have extensions carrying the rotor bearings. In one form, the polepieces 3, 4 are slotted at 5 to receive the rings 6 which also have ears to hold those parts of the poles not encircled. The windings 7 are slipped over the poles which are assembled in a yoke 8 secured by rivets 9. In modifications, the rings have extensions at one or both ends to carry the rotor shaft bearing. The two-part sheet metal casing is resiliently supported by rubber bushes on the core clamping bolts or by rubber mounted bearings. In addition, the end ring may also support resistance coils and a controlling knob. The shading ring may be composed of aluminium or zinc or their alloys and may contain a small proportion of silicon.
