Abstract
1,077,540. Induction motors; core constructions. RANCO MOTORS Ltd. May 5, 1966 [May 7, 1965], No. 19467/65. Heading H2A. A two-speed induction motor has an annular stator (a) with one winding (j) on its outer periphery and a second winding (h) on its inner periphery and a rotor having two parts (c), (b) mounted to rotate together and co-operating respectively with the stator windings. The outer stator periphery is preferably wound to provide more poles than the inner winding when energized and the two windings are electrically separate. End rings (r), (s), Figs. 3-5 (not shown), may be secured at the ends of the stack of stator laminations by rivets or alternatively the end rings may be cast on to the stack of laminations and the finished stator is secured to an end plate of the motor by bolts. Alternatively the endplate may be cast integrally with the end rings to mount the stator. One of the rotor parts may be finned to draw air past the stator windings and various methods of joining the two rotor parts together and to the shaft are described.
