573,825. Dynamo-electric machines. ANDREWS, E. F. Sept. 2, 1943, No. 14373. Convention date, July 22, 1942. [Class 35] A machine such as a synchronous motor has an air gap lining either on the rotor or stator or both, of uniformly distributed magnetic and non-magnetic components, e.g. iron particles, in an insulating binding. In the form shown, the rotor consists of laminµ 66 of the shape shown and cast aluminium 66 surrounded by a ring 64 of insulated iron particles, a similar ring 70 resting on the stator poles 68. In a modification with a ring on the stator only, this is fixed between end discs carrying bearings for the rotor. In the case of single phase motors, a condenser is used for phase splitting. Each polepiece may carry large and small coils and turns of one coil may be in series with turns of coils on adjacent polepieces.
