Abstract

592,105. Slip gauges. COVENTRY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and RYDER, T. R. May 17, 1945, No. 12393. [Class 106 (ii)] An adjustable slip gauge comprises two elements 11, 12 with parallel gauging surfaces and slidingly contacting surfaces slightly inclined to the gauging surfaces. One element 11 has a longitudinal channel 13 and a number of spaced recesses 14 for the reception of a spring- pressed plunger 16 carried by the other element 12, which also has two projections 22 for engaging in the channel 13 to ensure alignment of the elements and to act as stops. A pin 18 transverse of the plunger 16 projects through slots 19 in the sides of the element 12 and is fitted eccentrically with end caps 20 which enable the plunger to be depressed during adjustment and cover the ends of the slots 19 when the plunger has engaged a recess 14. The plunger and recesses may be self-centring An index 24 reads against a scale 25 to indicate the adjustment. Specification 564,065 is referred to.
