Abstract
673,146. Linear-dimension gauges. STANDARD GAGE CO., Inc. March 21, 1950 [April 6, 1949], No. 7032/50. Class 106 (ii). In a dial bore gauge with a pair of centring plungers 22, 23 slidable in bores either side of a measuring plunger 17 in the same plane therewith and transverse to the gauging head, a leafspring 24 mounted on a flattened surface 26 on the underside of the head engages the ends of the centring plungers 22, 23 which protrude below the surface to urge them outwardly against the walls of a bore. The measuring plunger 17 is bevelled at its inner end 16 to engage the bevelled end of a plunger 15 for transmitting movement to a dial gauge and a pin 20 working in a slot 21 in the plunger 17 limits its movement. Springs 32, 33 engage grooves in the plungers 22, 23 to hold them in contact with the ends 30, 31 of bifurcations of the leaf-spring 24 which is held by screws 25. A measuring stud 28 for co-operation with the plunger 17 is screwed into a rib 27 of the gauging head which has a saw slot extending to the line 34 and a horizontal saw slot 35 which form a clamp which is provided with a screw 36 to tighten it upon interchangeable studs 28, each of which may be finely-adjusted by screwing in or out.
