Abstract

225,621. Rankin, E. L. Sept. 5, 1923. Linear-dimension gauges.-The legs f, h, Fig. 1 of a divider compass or calliper gauge are adjusted by a cam a pivoted to one of the legs at b and having a cam slot c engaging a pin d on the other leg. The pin d may have an enlarged head. The joint between the legs comprises a lug e engaging a notch g and a bow spring i may be fitted. The joint may be formed by a ball. In a modification, 'Fig. 5, the adjusting cam m is pivoted at l to a strap k adapted to engage one of a number of notches n in one of the legs, the cam being arranged to engage a corresponding notch in the other leg. An antifriction ball or roller may be inserted in each notch. The edge of the cam may be graduated. The foot carrying a pencil t and a scribing point, g<1> may be reversibly mounted.
