Beam compasses.-Relates to measuring instruments, and consists in the provision of alternative scales, each with a vernier that conceals the graduations to which it does not relate. Where two scales are provided, they are arranged side by side and are graduated in reverse directions. Fig. 7 shows the adaptation to a beam compass wherein the scales are marked upon a rack 5 fitted to an adjustable collar 4 on the beam 1, a collar is provided for one of the points 21, the other point 22 being mounted upon the cursor 8 and being exchangeable for a drawing pen or pencil.
