943,824. Compasses. ETABLISSEMENTS QUENOT & CIE. July 13, 1962 [Jan. 29, 1962], No. 26946/62. Heading B6P. [Also in Division G1] An instrument for tracing circles of relatively great predetermined radius comprises a measuring tape 9 wound in a case 1 with a spike 6 and formed with an eyelet 11 in which a pencil may be inserted. The spike 6 may be retracted by rotating arm 3 about pivot 8 to the position shown in Fig. 4. The arm is held in either position by a spring urged member 4. The tape has a spring re-wind and may be locked in an extended position by a cam 14 rotated by a pin 15. The graduations on the tape can be seen, against a reference mark, through a window 2 in case 1.
