Abstract

A geometrical trigonometrical measuring instrument for tracing arcs of circles, measuring radii etc., has a moving arm (1) and a fixed arm (2) joined by a hinge pin (5) which forms the axis of rotation. A slot (11) fitted with a scable has a guide mark for reading anles. The two adjacent edges carry scales (14, 15) and the moving arm carries a cursor (16). Attached to the outer end of the moving arm by a hinge pin (19) is another arm (17) with a further scale along it. This arm can cross the fixed arm, so that measurements can be read where the scales intersect. A simpler instrument does not have the further arm (17).
