Abstract

337,487. Garwood, G. T. Aug. 9, 1929. Slide-rules. -A cylindrical sliderule consists of a stock a provided on its mid-portion with a six-sectioned logarithmic scale' f for co-operation with a cage-like sleeve b carrying a similar scale. At one end of the stock are also scales g, h, i for giving respectively the squares, cubes and anti-logarithms of the values inscribed on the sleeve. At the other end of the stock are two sectional scales j, k graduated in terms of log. sines and log. tangents for similar co-operation with the sleeve. To overcome the difficulty of partial graduations the scale sections are extended at their ends as can be seen in Fig. 2. A cursor l may be mounted on the sleeve.
