Abstract

1,024,425. Slide rules &c. S. H. F. SARL. March 12, 1963 [March 12, 1962], No. 9330/62. Heading G4B. A cylindrical calculator has a proportionating scale comprising the lines 3 joining a circumferential scale calibrated from 0 to 100 and a shorter scale calibrated from 0 to 10 and a cursor 2 with a scale C calibrated identically as the circumferential scale and having two verniers A and B associated with it. The stock also carries an antilogarithm scale L, sin and tan scales and a scale S/T for small angles. The length of the proportionating scale is calibrated along its lower edge from 1 to 10 and 1 to 5 coincidentally, and along its upper edge in percentage reciprocals. The Specification describes how the calculator is used in problems in road making (levels, gradients &c.) and for combinations of the four rules. The scale 5 is similar to the proportionating scale but is calibrated in the squares of its ordinates.
