Rulers. - In a parallel ruler in which the parallel movement is produced by diagonallyarranged links B pivoted together at their centres C and attached to the ruler members A by fixed pivots D and slidable pivots E. the inner edges of the members A are provided with attached strips M each of which receives at one end of the pivots D and is slotted at its other end to receive a stud E forming the slidable pivot. A spacing device is provided consisting of a plate I secured to one member A and a slotted graduated plate L which can be adjusted with respect to the other members A and secured by a stud H. The plate I has an index K co-operating with the scale on the plate L.
