Abstract
591,665. Centrifugal machines. BARKING BRASSWARE CO., Ltd., and PETZALL, W. May 17, 1945, No. 12434. [Class 23] A hydro-extractor with a rotary drum 4 in a casing 1 has a hinged cover 2 which, when being closed, closes a switch in the electrical circuit supplying a driving motor 11, Fig. 1, and also releases brake pads 16 from a disc 15, so that the drum 4 may be driven through a belt 10. When the cover is raised, a plunger 14 rises to open the switch, and the cable 18 is actuated to draw the brake shoes to engage the flange 15. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which a hand- or footoperated pedal 23 may be pressed down to cause brake shoes 30 to press on a flange 33 and a switch 32 to be opened and simultaneously draws down a push rod 24 to raise the cover. The drum spindle 5 extends through a sleeve 6 which is suspended by a spring 7 from a central diaphragm 8. The Provisional Specification states that the drum may have an annular counterweight.
