657,852. Door operating appliances. HUDSON'S BAY, GOVERNOR & COMPANY OF ADVENTURERS OF ENGLAND TRADING INTO. March 10, 1949, No. 6595. Convention date, April 1, 1948. [Class 65(i)] A revolving door is provided with manually operable clutch means for establishing a driving connection, when desired, between the door and a continuously rotating driving element. An electric motor 7 drives, through reduction gearing 11, a continuously rotating plate situated at ground level and concentric with the pivot 1 of the door. Each wing 4 of the latter has pivoted thereon a hand-bar 34, to the outer end of the pivot of which is fixed a crank adapted to exert a pull on a cord 42 when the hand bar is depressed. The cord is connected to a pair of parallel links 66 between which are journalled pairs of rollers 64. The latter are adapted to cooperate with inclined surfaces formed on a fixed upper plate and also on a movable lower plate carrying a clutch plate 55 provided on its lower surface with friction material. On depression of the hand bar the links are drawn outwardly and thereby force the clutch plate into contact with the continuously revolving plate. On release of the hand bar a spring 50 moves the links inwardly and a spring 59 raises the clutch plate.
