Abstract

607,902. Spinning. JOSEPH, N. C. Feb. 13, 1946, No. 4443. [Class 83 (iv)] A spinning-lathe having a spindle 1 directly driven by an electric motor through a belt and pulley is provided with a brake applied to the spindle so that the spindle may be quickly brought to rest when the motor has been switched off. The brake comprises a metal band 5 with brake lining surrounding a drum on the spindle and is applied by a foot lever 6 against the action of a spring. Both the driving pulley and the brake drum are positioned between the spindle bearings 2. Specification 607,901 is referred to.
