Abstract
587,703. Striking plates. WILMOTBREEDEN, Ltd., and STEPHENSON, C. H. Jan. 1, 1945, No. 83. [Class 44] In a striking plate for a latch or lock of the type in which an auxiliary catch is used to hold the main latch in retracted position when the door is open, that part e of the ramp which engages the catch is formed integrally with or secured to the plate at the end first encountered by the catch on closing the door, and is made sufficiently flexible to enable it to be adjusted when required relatively to the part or parts d which the bolt encounters, but sufficiently rigid to resist without deflection the force exerted when the door is slammed. Slits c are made at each side of the part e for this purpose. Specification 483,386 is referred to.
