Abstract

898,683. Latch fastenings. GOWLAND, C. J. Feb. 5, 1960 [Nov. 5, 1958], No. 35482/58. Class 44. In an assembly of a door and a mortise latch, the latch comprises an elongated body 3 inserted by longitudinal sliding into a mortise hole in an edge face of the door, one or more separable bolts 17 being disposed transversely in the body and protruding there from at least one face into the material of the door adjacent the mortise hole, thereby locking the body against longitudinal movement in the hole. As shown a single bolt 17 is used which also passes through a sole plate 9. The body may have a flange 4 which wedges into the mortise hole.
