688,749. Striking plates. BISSOT, J. E., and MANCHESTER, R. G. Aug. 24, 1951 [Sept. 29, 1950], No. 19982/51. Class 44 A striking plate for a door latch comprises a part 10 having a tongue 17, Fig. 2, and serrated wings 15 and a U-shaped retainer plate, 11, Fig. 3, having wings 11 a serrated on the rear side. In the assembled position, Fig. 1, the tongue 17 fits between wings 11a to form a rectangular opening for the latch, the tongue being offset from wings 15 to lie flush with the retainer plate. Wood screws 13 pass through holes 12 in the retainer plate and slots 20 in the wings 15 to secure the parts to the door jamb in the adjusted position. Readjustment may be made by backing off screws 13 and re-engaging the co-operating serrated surfaces in different relative positions.
