[Class 100 (ii)] Rotary intaglio machines ; tripping- arrangements.-The printing-cylinder a of a rotary photogravure printing-machine forms part of a sub-unit b which can be incorporated within the main framework c of the machine to admit of a ready assembly of the unit in and disassembly from the main framework, assisted by a lifting and lowering motion, the cylinder a being so mounted in the framework as to admit of the lifting motion obtaining by means of a mechanism operating on the sub-unit b, which mechanism is also utilized to exert pressure to effect an impression. The unit b is mounted on parallel rods d, d<1> the rod d being mounted on an hydraulic or pneumatic jack or jacks e whereby the cylinder a is pressed resiliently against an impression cylinder f, and the rod d<1> forming a fulcrum for rocking movement of the unit. The unit may be turned end for end to provide for reverse rotation of the cylinder a, and the jacks may be operated from a remote control.
